The UKSA Secret Art Show and Auction

I had the pleasure of donating two original watercolour paintings to the first UKSA secret art auction which was held in the pavilion at Cowes Royal Yacht Squadron last weekend and I was so happy to hear that all 124 artworks donated had sold! How amazing! Each postcard sized piece of art was priced at £100 each and there was also some larger paintings up for auction and the total raised was an incredible £30,000!

A bit more about UKSA...

"UKSA is a charity which believes in the power of the sea to make a change. We offer the very best professional maritime training courses alongside youth development programmes to help young people transform their lives for the better. As a youth charity we use the money raised from our donors, sponsors and professional training to help us make a positive difference in the lives of the 9,000 young people we welcome through our doors every year. From experienced yachtsmen and women to nervous eight-year-olds, superyacht students to ex-offenders, UKSA is never just about training and certificates. We've helped launch 5,000 careers and we turn lives around every day."

It was fantastic to see all the diverse art work on display including pieces by Nicky Baker and Carly Groves, both amazing artists I've met over this past year and to see all the work had sold was just brilliant.

I donated two paintings, both foodie themed, one of jaffa cakes and one of focaccia. They were both made towards personal projects in the last couple of years and it was great to see them put to a more productive purpose and not just hiding in my drawer unit in the studio!
